Architecturally stunning both inside and out, Gladstone's Library is filled with an amazing collection of books. A place to read, reflect, relax and enjoy afternoon tea!
'Be happy with what you have and are, be generous with both, and you won't have to hunt for happiness.' William Ewart Gladstone.
Introducing Gladstone’s Library pop-up library on the lawn!
Mondays 2-4pm and Thursdays 10-12 noon from 21 July to 21 August 2025
Inspired by four-times former Prime Minister William Gladstone, who reportedly carried his books to the Library in a wheelbarrow, you can borrow a selection of children’s, teen and young adult books from our wheelbarrow at Gladstone’s Library for a limited time this summer.
Our Engagement and Learning Officers also have organised a Summer Reading Challenge for young people, and you can complete it to claim a goodie bag. Download the Summer Reading Challenge booklets on our website or pick up a hardcopy at the Library from the 1st July.
