Outdoor Classroom
Can we upcycle something from your attic or garden?
Nic is on the lookout for a variety of materials to use in the Foundation Learning outdoor classroom. Suitable items that will encourage open-ended learning, supporting children’s imagination and curiosity, and promoting empathy and compassion. The plan being that children will learn how to look after and cherish lovely things!
We’ll also be encouraging recycling, reusing, mending etc…NO single-use plastic toys here!
This is where you come in. Please can you have a look around your home, your shed, your garden, your attic, backs of cupboards etc - Nic’s even been checking people’s skips (with their permission, of course!) - and see if you have anything appropriate.
We’re looking for the following:
Pine cones
Acorns
Wicker baskets or wicker boxes with lids (various sizes)
Cotton reels
Zips
Buttons
Stones
Rope
Glass beads
Shells
Pieces of wood
Old jewellery (not plastic)
Wooden bowls
Wooden curtain rings
Nuts & bolts
Hats
Ribbons
Old keys
Bike wheels
Cups & saucers
Small ornaments
We also welcome donations of any plants or bulbs to enhance our school grounds.
Nic’s at the gate every morning if you have something not listed but think it might be useful - just ask and check.
Huge thanks in advance!
